TYPES OF CERTIFICATIONS

The RFID Professional Institute provides certification credentials covering all of the commonly used RFID technologies, for end users and solution providers responsible for implementation of RFID systems.

The founders of the institute agreed on four different levels of certification, each requiring a deeper knowledge of the subject areas than the previous level. Currently, exams have been published for the first two levels.

LEVEL 1
RFID Professional Institute Associate Certificate (RPIAC)

The first level of certification covers the fundamentals of RFID. View the curriculum for this exam. View the Study Guide for this exam.

The Associate Certificate provides comprehensive coverage of the fundamental information needed to understand the characteristics, proper usage, and implementation considerations for the primary types of RFID in use.

LEVEL 2
RFID Professional Institute Certified Professional (RPICP)

The Professional Certificate is intended for those who have several years experience in RFID. View the curriculum.

To attain this certificate, candidates must demonstrate that they have a comprehensive understanding of all types of RFID technologies and can select the appropriate type of technology for a specific application. They must show they understand how to develop the business case for an application, write application requirements, trouble shoot and train workers to use the system. This certification is appropriate for those actively involved with designing or deploying RFID systems.

Potential Candidates: IT dedicated to ongoing RFID projects, those with several years experience working on RFID projects, those joining RFID solution providers in technical position.

LEVEL 3
RFID Professional Institute Certified Specialist

Level 3 is where the certification changes from being RFID generic to focus in on specialist areas of the RFID industry. Each of these specialist areas is described in the following sections.

LEVEL 4
RFID Professional Institute Certified RFID Expert (RPICE)

In addition, the RFID institute will award a special “RFID Institute Certified RFID Expert” credential to those who hold all current RFID Certified Specialist credentials. This special designation indicates that the holder has demonstrated the ability to deploy the major types of RFID systems and that they have achieved the highest level of expertise in the RFID industry.
