A Message from the President
Thank you for visiting the RFID Professional Institute’s website. The Institute was founded in June 2012 by a group of RFID professionals committed to fostering professionalism in the global RFID industry through the creation of standardized certification exams. It is our belief that the industry can only grow if it has a large pool of well-trained technicians and professionals and a system for verifying the knowledge and skills of this group.

For a decade, the founders have worked tirelessly to create a detailed certification process, a roadmap for the certifications the Institute aims to create and the first two exams in the series — the RFID Professional Institute Associate Certificate and the RFID Professional Institute Professional Certificate. Over time, the founders had less and less time to devote to the Institute, and a vote was taken to shut down the nonprofit. The Institute's board voted to transfer the Institute's assets to me in the hope that I would keep it going and eventually relaunch it.
In 2022, I retired from RFID Journal. After taking some much-needed time off, I began devoting myself to reestablishing the institute. I relaunched the website last year, and this year updated the Associate Certificate Exam. We have also publish the first study guide for the Associate Certificate, which anyone anywhere in the world can purchase and use to pass the exam online. We are now working on updating the professional Certificate Exam and creating a detailed study guide for it.

Certification is important. If you are a graduating university student with a technical degree, a business person assigned to an RFID project or someone just entering the RFID field, I encourage you to become certified. It’s a great way to demonstrate your knowledge of RFID systems and concepts, as well as enhance your career.
If you are an experienced RFID professional who would like to support the institute, we would love to have you help in developing our educational materials and exams. You can apply to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) here. I look forward to working with you to grow the RFID industry.
Yours,
Mark Roberti
